A look inside the HVAC compressor - RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR!

A Look Inside he HVAC Compressor – RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR!

First and foremost, HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. This system is used from homes to submarines to satiate the necessary application. It is a system that provides heating and cooling to the infrastructure.

The commercial compressor parts plays a critical role in the cooling process inside an industry. Without the compressor, the entire HVAC system won’t be able to eradicate heat from the indoor and transfer it outdoors. The whole system needs to be cooled down for proper working.

The HVAC commercial compressors are mainly these category compressors –

Reciprocating, rotary compressors, scroll compressors, and centrifugal compressors. We will talk about each one of them and what is inside them (Components).

Reciprocating Compressor

The reciprocating compressor has the following components in them –

  • Pistons and cylinders:

This compressor uses a piston to compress the air and is made of cast iron or aluminium. The piston moves from one end to the other end of the cylinder and generates a flow. The cylinder is directly bored into the compressor casting or is made separately and then fitted inside the cylinder. You must always check for the faults in it or look if it is worn out. Jyoti Engineering Combine can turn it into a new compressor by remanufacturing process.

The piston performs an upward and downward motion inside the cylinder. During this motion, the piston enables suction and compression of the refrigerant (freon or ammonia compressor parts).

The piston is covered with piston rings to fill the gap and to avoid any leak through the gaps between the cylinder walls and the piston to the crankcase.

Not only this, but the gap is also filled with lubricant oil to prevent any leakage.

  • Crankshaft:

The crankshaft is an essential component of any compressor. The piston is able to perform rotary motion because of the motion of the crankshaft. It is the compressor’s main shaft and is connected to an electric motor on one side and the connecting rod. The rotation of the electric motor shaft gives rotation to the crankshaft.

The crankshaft’s rotatory motion goes through the connecting rod to the piston, transforming it into a reciprocating motion.

Connecting Rods

The rod connects the piston to the crankshaft and is responsible for transforming the crankshaft’s rotary motion into the piston’s reciprocating motion.
